Overview

For each like-kind transaction in the Asset Module or Screen CA8824 where property was transferred, identified, or received in the current year, UltraTax CS creates a unit of Screen CA3840. Information on this screen is used for Form 3840. To print Form 3840 with the return, mark the Print Form 3840 checkbox.

For current year exchanges, UltraTax CS automatically includes information from federal Form 8824 on Form 3840, Parts I and II. Use this screen to enter additional information regarding like-kind exchange from current year to complete Form 3840, Pages 1 and 2.

All units of this screen proforma to next year regardless of whether or not you mark the Print Form 3840 field.

For like-kind transactions for which property was transferred, identified, or received in a prior year, use Screen CA3840PY.
