Question

Can the Filing Status Optimization utility be used to separate a Domestic Partner return?

Answer

Yes. The return may be split into two separate returns for married filing separately status using the same procedure as other 1040 returns. The Domestic Partner return type and the client IDs of the two separate taxpayer clients are retained in client properties. The proforma information is stored from the split client into the separately filed federal return client using the same procedure as a joint Domestic Partner return.
