New (tax) year, new help!

Fixed Assets and UltraTax CS 2023 help is now on Help and Support. We're still moving articles, but you can find most content for the 2023 tax year there. Continue using the Help & How-To Center for tax years 2022 and older.

Clients may be omitted from the list on the Proforma dialog for several reasons. If you can't proforma a client as expected, check the following areas in the application to determine why your particular client is missing from the list.

  1. In the prior-year version of UltraTax CS, open the client's return and verify that the Suppress next year's proforma checkbox is not marked. You can find this field in the following locations:
    • 1040: General folder > Contact screen.
    • 1065: General folder > CltOptns screen.
    • 1120: General folder > 1120 screen.
    • 1041: General folder > 1041 screen.
  2. For an 1120, 1065, or 1041 client, open the client's return in the prior-year application, click the first tab in the General folder (Screen 1120, 1065, or 1041) and verify that the Final return checkbox is not marked.
  3. For a 1040 client, open the client's return in the prior-year application, click the General folder to open Screen 1040, and verify that the Date of death field is not populated.
  4. In the current-year application, choose Utilities > Proforma and verify the following settings.
    • Make sure the location specified in the Data to proforma group box is the correct location of your prior-year data. If not, click the Change UltraTax CS Location button and specify the correct location.
    • Review the fields in the Focus listing group box and make sure the checkboxes for the appropriate entity types are marked.
    • Verify that the Preparer/staffFiscal year end, and Prior year events drop-down lists are set to include all preparers, months, and prior-year events, respectively.
    • Clear the Exclude proforma'd clients checkbox.
