New (tax) year, new help!

Fixed Assets and UltraTax CS 2023 help is now on Help and Support. We're still moving articles, but you can find most content for the 2023 tax year there. Continue using the Help & How-To Center for tax years 2022 and older.

You can have UltraTax CS automatically assign a particular preparer, reviewer, or staff member to all clients who do not already have one assigned to them. This feature is especially useful if your client data has been converted from other tax applications and therefore does not have a preparer, reviewer, or staff member assigned to each client. To override the assignment on a client-by-client basis, choose File > Client Properties.

Note: Before you can assign any client(s) to preparers, reviewers, or staff members, you must enter information on the appropriate tabs in the Setup > Office Configuration dialog. Enter preparer information in the Preparers tab, reviewer information in the Reviewers tab, and enter staff information in the Staff tab.

  1. From the Utilities menu, choose Reassign Clients.
  2. Choose No preparer assigned, No reviewer assigned, or No staff assigned from the Preparer/reviewer/staff drop-down list to focus the list on all clients who are not assigned to a preparer, reviewer, or staff member. Use the other controls in the Focus group box to restrict the list of clients in the Clients available to select pane.
  3. Highlight the clients you want to assign in the Clients available to select pane on the left, then click the Select button to move the highlighted clients to the Clients selected pane on the right. You can also click Select All to move all clients in the list to the Clients selected pane.
  4. Choose Preparer, Reviewer, or Staff from the Category drop-down list to specify whether you are assigning the selected clients to a preparer, reviewer, or staff member.
  5. Use the Preparer, Reviewer, or Staff drop-down list in the Reassign Client To group box to select the preparer or staff member to whom the selected clients will be assigned. Note that the name of this field changes depending on whether you specify Preparer or Staff in the Category field.

Note: If the desired preparer or staff member does not appear in the drop-down list, you need to enter the appropriate information in either the Preparer, Reviewer, or Staff tab in the Setup > Office Configuration dialog.

  6. Click Reassign to assign the selected clients to the specified preparer, reviewer, or staff member.
