If you entered data in the File this return electronically or File extension electronically field in federal Screen ELF to indicate that the federal return or extension is filed electronically, UltraTax CS automatically creates electronic files for applicable state returns attached to the client. To have UltraTax CS globally suppress the creation of all state and local electronic files for a given entity, follow these steps.
- From the Setup menu, choose the appropriate entity type (for example, 1040 Individual).
- Click the Federal tab in the Product Information dialog.
- Click the New Client Options button.
- In the Other group box, mark the Suppress state electronic file when filing federal return/extension electronically (Screen ELF) checkbox.
Note: For some entities, you need to click the Other tab in the New Client Options dialog to mark the above checkbox.
- Click OK to close the New Client Options dialog.
- Click OK to close the Product Information dialog.
Notes
- This procedure affects only clients subsequently added to UltraTax CS.
- For existing clients, to suppress the state electronic files, mark the Suppress the creation of: State electronic file(s) when only filing the federal return/extension electronically checkbox in Screen ELF.
- You can also suppress the creation of state and local electronic files for all entities on a state-by-state basis, all state and local electronic files for the open return, or certain state electronic files for the open return.
