New (tax) year, new help!

Fixed Assets and UltraTax CS 2023 help is now on Help and Support. We're still moving articles, but you can find most content for the 2023 tax year there. Continue using the Help & How-To Center for tax years 2022 and older.

There are three ways to set print options. No matter how you choose to set these options, the available options and the means of setting them are essentially the same.

  • Print options for returns, reports, input screens, watermarks, and client documents can be configured for your office in the Setup > Office Configuration > Print Options tab. These options can be configured independently for each office and will apply to all users based on the office designation selected in the Setup > User Preferences > My Settings tab.
  • If you use the default office-wide print options and you want to enable only authorized users to change print options for the office, you can do so by setting particular security options, either with standard or advanced security options.
  • You can enable all users to set their own print options.

Note: Watermark options always apply to the entire office; you can set individual watermark options on a per-office basis, but not on a per-user basis. If the Use print options from Office Configuration checkbox is not marked, use the Watermarks tab in Setup > Office Configuration to set watermark options. If the Use print options from Office Configuration checkbox is marked, choose Setup > Office Configuration > Print Options, and click the Watermarks button to set watermark options by office.

Enabling authorized personnel to change print options for the office

If you use standard security options, you can enable only users who know the master password to change print options.

  1. From the Setup menu, choose Security and enter or set the master password.
  2. If it is not already marked, mark the Use print options from Office Configuration checkbox.
  3. To limit user access to the Office Configuration dialog, mark the Restrict access to Setup > Office Configuration checkbox. This ensures that only users who know the master password can change office configuration settings, including office-wide print options.
  4. Click OK.

If you use advanced security options, you can provide only certain groups of users with the privilege of changing print options.

  1. From the Setup menu, choose Security and enter or set the master password.
  2. Click the Groups tab, highlight the group that you want to enable to make print option changes, and click the Edit Group button.
  3. Expand the Administrative privileges and set the Setup > Office Configuration privilege to Allow.
  4. Click OK twice.

Enabling users to set individual print options

Complete these steps to enable individual users to set their own print options via the Setup > User Preferences > Print Options tab.

Note: To complete these steps, you must have a network license for UltraTax CS.

  1. From the Setup menu, choose Security and enter or set the master password.
  2. Clear the Use print options from Office Configuration checkbox.
  3. Click OK.
