The Excel Export / Import utility allows you to quickly and efficiently export and import apportionment information to and from UltraTax CS/1120 and a Microsoft Excel workbook. When you export apportionment information from UltraTax CS, the utility creates the following three Excel spreadsheets.

  • Apport Info Property: This worksheet contains information to complete the property information in the Apportionment Information window.
  • Apport Info Payroll: This worksheet contains information to complete the payroll information in the Apportionment Information window.
  • Apport Info Sales: This worksheet contains information to complete the sales information in the Apportionment Information window.

The following table identifies the UltraTax CS/1120 apportionment spreadsheet information that exports to Excel and the Excel worksheet that contains the corresponding information for import into UltraTax CS/1120.

Basic procedure for exporting and importing apportionment information

  1. Create the Excel workbook template by exporting data from UltraTax CS to Excel. To import apportionment information from Excel, you must first create the Excel workbook template by exporting the apportionment information spreadsheet from UltraTax CS into Excel. For more information, see Exporting apportionment information to Excel.
  2. Modify and save the Excel workbook. After generating the Excel workbook, you can make modifications to the worksheets by following the guidelines described in Excel Export / Import guidelines for apportionment information.
  3. Import data from the Excel workbook back into UltraTax CS. For more information, see Importing apportionment information from Excel.
