New (tax) year, new help!

Fixed Assets and UltraTax CS 2023 help is now on Help and Support. We're still moving articles, but you can find most content for the 2023 tax year there. Continue using the Help & How-To Center for tax years 2022 and older.

To get to this tab, choose View > Contributor/Officer > Officer Information.

Use this tab to enter general officer information such as name and address. UltraTax CS uses this information to complete both the federal and state returns. Also, the application automatically updates the information in the Officer spreadsheet at the top of the Officer Information window when you enter officer data in this tab.

Tips

  • To add a new officer, click the Add Add button button. UltraTax CS opens a blank Officer Information tab where you can enter the new officer's information. You can add up to 250 officers for each 990 client.
  • To delete an officer, highlight the appropriate officer in the Officer spreadsheet at the top of the Officer Information window, and click the Delete Delete button button.
  • To update an existing officer's general information, highlight the appropriate officer in the Officer spreadsheet at the top of the Officer Information window, and edit the information in the Officer Information tab.

Fields & buttons

General

Enter the officer's name and address information in the fields in this section.

Foreign Address

Select the appropriate alpha code for the officer's foreign country and US possession from this drop-down list, and then select the foreign country from the drop-down list that opens.

Enter the province or state for the officer's foreign country in this field.

Contact

Indicate the officer who will sign the return(s). The name and title of the selected officer is included in the electronic file.

Indicate the principal officer. This information is used to calculate Form 990, Page 1 and included on the electronic postcard 990-N.

Position

Enter the position, title, officer type for any current or former persons in the required categories, as indicated. Entries in these fields complete Form 990, Parts VII and IX and Schedules J. This information proformas from year to year.

Mark this checkbox to exclude the officer from the list on Form 990, Part VII, Section A when compensation is less than $100,000. If the compensation is greater than $100,000 the officer will be listed on Part VII along with Schedule J.

Mark this for the officer who holds books for the organization. Marking this box requires completion of the officer’s address, as the organization’s address will not default. In addition, forms that report the books in care of information will use the organization’s phone and fax where applicable.
