Form 8839 Attachments (FI) Details the adoption-related documents that must be attached to the Form 8839. The requirements vary depending upon the nature of the adoption, and in some cases the custom paragraph refers the taxpayer to the Form 8839 Attachment Report attached to the front of the return.
Form 8889 Increased Limit (TL) Notification that HSA deduction was calculated using the increased limit and additional taxes and penalties may apply if, during the next tax year, the taxpayer becomes ineligible for a health savings account
Form 8889 Qual Fund IRA (TL) Notification that the taxpayer elected to take a qualified HSA funding distribution from an IRA, the election is made only once, and additional taxes and penalties may apply if the taxpayer becomes ineligible for a health savings account during the 12 months following the distribution

Investment int exp C/O (TL) Reports the investment interest expense carried over to next year
IRS Direct Deposit Limit (FI) Notification that due to the IRS direct deposit limitations, either the direct deposit cannot be requested or, if forced, indicates that the direct deposit may be denied and a paper check sent instead delaying the refund. For additional information see DIR-DEP-REJ-RSN-CD #44 located in the Internal Revenue Manual, Part 21.4.1.4.8.1, Direct Deposit Reason Codes.
IRS Phishing Email (G) IRS does not send unsolicited emails and instructs how to report such emails
Joint Bank Account (FI) Warns if a joint refund is not direct deposited into a joint account, the direct deposit request may be rejected by the financial institution. A direct deposit denied by the bank results in a paper check and refund delays up to 10 weeks.
Keogh/SEP Plan Contrib (TL) Reports the Keogh/SEP contributions to be made by the due date, including any excess contributions, if applicable
Mail Privacy Protection (TL) Return should not be mailed from home mailbox
Mailing Envelope Enclosed are pre-addressed envelopes for mailing your returns
Medical Savings Account (TL) Reports the Medical Savings Account contributions, excess contributions if applicable, 5329 tax, and balance to be deposited, including date sensitive text (pre and post due date)
Next Year Underpymt Penalty (TL) Based on projected information reports, there may be an underpayment penalty next year. Safe Harbor rules are reported using client-specific information
Noncash Contributions (TL) Reports that donated clothing and household items must be in good or better used condition to qualify as a deduction, as well as adhere to substantiation requirements from the organization

Postmarked Receipts (FI) Certified mail with postmarked receipts is recommended timely filing
Presidential Election (FI)

Instructs clients to mark Presidential Election Campaign boxes.

Refund Savings Bonds (FI) Information about the amount of US Series I Savings bonds purchased with the tax refund
Refund Savings Bonds Registration (FI) Reports the savings bonds registration information when a refund is used to purchase bonds for persons other than the taxpayer or spouse. Bond registration information includes the name of the owner, co-owner or beneficiary and the amount purchased.
Refund Status (TL) Information on how to obtain a refund status from the IRS
Required Minimum Distribution (TL) Provides information needed to make a required minimum distribution from a retirement account.
Roth IRA Contributions (TL) Reports date and amount of Roth IRA contribution, excess contributions if applicable for the tax year, 5329 tax, and balance to be deposited including date-sensitive text (pre-April 17 and post-April 18)
Safeguarding Taxpayer Data (TL) Recommends IRS Publication 4524 for steps client should take to protect data from identity theft.
Schedule J Tax Savings (TL) Reports the tax saved by using the Schedule J to calculate tax due
Sign Section 199A Safe Harbor Stmt (FI) Instructs the client to sign and date the required Section 199A Trade or Business Safe Harbor statement for rental real estate. For efiled returns, clients are instructed to return the signed and dated statement and indicate the return will not be filed until the signed statement has been received.
Signature Elections (FI) Signature instructions for elections that contain a signature line
Social Security Card Name (TL)

Confirmation that names and numbers match the Social Security card

Note: This custom paragraph prints only with paper-filed returns. IRS acceptance of an electronically filed return confirms that all Social Security names and numbers within the return agree with IRS information, thus rendering this custom paragraph not applicable for electronically filed returns.

Statement (TL) Enclosed is an invoice for the preparation of the tax return
Status of Estimates (FI) Your estimated tax payments should be reviewed on a quarterly basis to avoid an underpayment situation. Note this is a simplified version of the Estimated Tax Pymts Change (FI) custom paragraph. Use either this paragraph or Estimated Tax Pymts Change (FI), but not both.
Tax History Report (TL) Describes the information contained in the Tax History Report and how it may be used to spot trends for tax planning purposes
Total Next Year Est Tax Pymnt (FI) Reports total estimate amounts when there is an overpayment applied in addition to estimated tax payments.

Note: This custom paragraph will not print when using Form 1040-ES - 2023 declaration code 4 and printing blank estimate amounts.

Traditional IRA Contrib (TL) Reports the amount and date of deductible and nondeductible traditional IRA contributions, excess contributions if applicable, 5329 tax, and balance to be deposited including date-sensitive text (pre- and post-due date)
