The following includes an answer to a common question about due dates.

Question

When are the partnership return and extension due?

Answer

For the 2022 tax year, the due dates are:

  • Partnership returns: 15th day of the 3rd month following the year end (adjust for holidays and weekends). For full-year, calendar partnerships this is March 15, 2023.
  • Extensions: 15th day of the 9th month following the year end (adjust for holidays and weekends). For full-year, calendar partnerships this is September 15, 2023.

Notes

  • For partnerships that keep their records and books of account outside the United States and Puerto Rico, an extension of time to file and pay is granted to the 15th day of the 6th month following the close of the tax year. Form 7004 is not required to be filed to receive this 3-month extension of time to file.
  • If the due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, file by the next day that is not a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday.
