The following steps must be completed if estimates are to be paid by electronic funds withdrawal. See the table below for information on states that allow electronic filing of estimates.
- In the state's screen for enabling e-file, listed in the table below, complete the appropriate estimate fields.
- Enter bank information in the state's Screen Bank, if it has not already been entered in federal Screen Bank.
- Review all diagnostics and clear all ELF diagnostics for the estimates.
- If a state files estimates separately from the return and the return is not being filed at the same time, mark the Suppress return and extension electronic files when only filing estimates electronically field in the state's Screen ELF. If the return and estimates are being filed at the same time, skip this step.
- Choose File > Print Returns. Mark both the Government copy and the Create electronic file checkboxes.
- Print the return to generate the electronic file either to a printer or to FileCabinet CS.
- Send the electronic file electronically via CS Connect.
Notes
- In CS Connect, states that file estimates separately from the return will have a file for each estimate being paid by electronic funds withdrawal. States that file estimates with the return will only have one file that includes the tax return and all estimate payments.
- For states that allow additional estimates to be filed with an electronically filed amended return, the estimates will not replace any previously filed estimates and should only be filed to increase the future quarterly payments. The additional estimates are included in the amended return electronic file.
Use the Search field to search the table data.
