UltraTax/Michigan MBT offers electronic filing for 1065 and 1120 returns. Enter information in the fields in Screen MKELF for an electronically filed Michigan MBT return. Press F1 in any field to view instructions for that field.

When the following forms are included in a filing, the MBT return can be re-filed but the following forms must be mailed.

  • Form 4, Application for Extension of Time to File Michigan Tax Returns
  • Form 4589, Business Tax Film Credit Assignment

The Michigan Department of Treasury does not accept returns that include the following forms.

  • Form 4579, Business Tax Qualified Affordable Housing Seller's Deduction
  • Form 4597, Tribal Agreement Ownership Schedule
  • Form 4598, Tribal Agreement Apportionment

In addition, MBT federal and state electronic filing is not available to taxpayers who:

  • Have a Michigan-issued Treasury (TR) number. Information and forms to apply for a Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) may be obtained at irs.gov/businesses, or you can call the IRS at (800) 829-4933 to register.
  • Have an organization type of individual or fiduciary.
  • Take either the Qualified Affordable Housing Credit or Tribal Credit.
