New (tax) year, new help!

Fixed Assets and UltraTax CS 2023 help is now on Help and Support. We're still moving articles, but you can find most content for the 2023 tax year there. Continue using the Help & How-To Center for tax years 2022 and older.

If you want to see what's included in the e-file for a return, you need to view the XML file. The IRS requires that e-file information be formatted in an XML.

  1. Select Utilities, then Electronic Filing Status.
  2. Find the client in the list. If the client isn't listed, an e-file has never been created for the client.
  3. Select View View.
  4. To find a specific form, line, or amount, press CTRL+F and search.

Troubleshooting if the XML file won't open

If the file won't open, check your file associations. You might not have a program assigned to open XML files.

  1. Open Windows Control Panel.
  2. Select Programs, then Default Programs.
  3. Select Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
  4. From the list of Default apps, select Choose default apps by file type.
  5. Select the app currently assigned to .xml XML Document.
  6. Select Microsoft Edge or Notepad.
