Question

How are Medical and Dental expenses calculated on Schedule A line 1?

Answer

Preview the Not Required Statements for the tax return. A statement will print that breaks down the amounts calculated on Schedule A line 1. Typically amounts will be entered on Screen A in the Itemized Deductions folder, but it is possible that amounts entered elsewhere are contributing the amount on Schedule A line 1.

If the Not required Statements aren't in print preview, verify that your collation includes the not required statement.
