The information in this topic is primarily intended for your qualified IT professional to use while planning for changes such as server migrations or when setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting CS applications. This topic can also help you share technical details of our applications with other staff members in your office or when discussing an issue with our Support team.
UltraTax CS Directories
UltraTax CS has four primary directories:

This directory contains program level files and folders to run the UltraTax CS application. |
\WinCSI\UTYYSys |
This directory contains UltraTax CS system data. This consists of configuration files for global settings and file locations, lock files, user specific preference files, and temporary folders for various print jobs and CS Connect transmissions. |
\WinCSI\UTYYData |
This directory is the default data location for UltraTax CS client data. |
\WinCSI\DeprData |
This directory is the default data location for Fixed Assets CS client data. This folder integrates with the Fixed Assets CS application. |

Notes
- "YY" represents the year of the UltraTax CS application (e.g. UltraTax CS 2014 has a UT14 directory).
- The directory paths listed assumes that the WinCSI is default directory used. If you install UltraTax CS to an alternate directory, please adjust accordingly. Additionally, the UTYYData directory is the default directory for UltraTax client data, but may be modified or different if you have multiple data locations.
Files by Category
Lock files restrict access to files within UltraTax CS by allowing only one user or process access at any specific time.
UltraTax CS has several types of lock files:

This file is created when an UltraTax CS client is opened or "checked out" to prevent another user from accessing the same client. |

Proforma screen lock file |
This file is created when a user is accessing the Proforma screen. |
SDMINEC.<UID> |
Data mining screen lock file |
This file is created when a user is accessing UltraTax CS data mining. |
Note: <UID> represents the user's identification. UltraTax CS pulls this ID from the computer name in your Windows operating system.
UltraTax CS has four main locations for lock files:

This directory contains Fixed Assets CS client locks, which prevent other users from accessing Fixed Assets CS client data that is opened or in use. |
\WinCSI\UTYYData\$TAXSID |
The directory contains screen locks, which prevent other users from accessing screens that is opened or in use. |

This directory temporarily holds UltraTax CS client data when a client is opened by a user. When a client is saved or closed, the data will be pushed back to the UTYYData directory or primary data location for UltraTax CS.
For UltraTax CS 2013 and earlier years, the directory is C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp\UTYYData, where YY is the year of the program.

File Details
You can view installed program files and their details (e.g. version, UT version, size, date/time). To view the file details, choose Help > Repair > Misc > View File Details.
Installation Prerequisites
UltraTax CS has several operating system prerequisites used to run the application, including Internet Explorer, Microsoft .NET Framework, and Microsoft Visual C++. The desktop setup for UltraTax CS will check that your workstation has these components and install the prerequisites that are missing. If you need to reinstall or repair the separate components required to run UltraTax CS, see the table below for the installation files.
Note: We recommend consulting a qualified IT professional when repairing, uninstalling, or reinstalling components of your operating system.

Important! When searching for the Custom Fieldviews file within the Configurable Files Spreadsheet, it is listed under the name, Preparer Views (xyssPRVU.* - located within X:\WinCSI\UTYYSys\Entity).
Note: Any configurable files that are listed as an Automatic Proforma will proforma automatically from year to year. For example, once all the settings are setup in 2013 UltraTax CS, once you open 2014 UltraTax CS, these files will copy over automatically.
