New (tax) year, new help!

Fixed Assets and UltraTax CS 2023 help is now on Help and Support. We're still moving articles, but you can find most content for the 2023 tax year there. Continue using the Help & How-To Center for tax years 2022 and older.

To protect the privacy of your clients, we recommend setting passwords for tax returns in PDF. Creating unprotected PDF versions of the return is intended for your firm's internal use only. To ensure that the PDF is created with a password, verify that the Password protect PDFs checkbox is marked on the Print Returns dialog before creating the client copy of the return with Electronic delivery. The password contains between one and three client data items, and must be entered to open the PDF files. Follow these steps to specify the components of the password.

  1. Choose Setup > Client Communications.
  2. Click the Password button.
  3. Mark the desired checkboxes in the PDF Delivery password group box. The Taxpayer Identification Number checkbox is marked by default.

Note: You can override the password in the password column of the Client Communications dialog.
