You must make the election on the 706 screen (in the General folder) in the Alternate valuation date field. When you enter a date in this field, you are answering Yes to question 1 of Form 706, Page 2, Part 3.
To enter an alternate valuation amount for a specific asset, enter the amount in the Alternate value field on Screen Asset, located under the Asset folder.
Note: If you want UltraTax CS to use the alternate valuation date calculated on the 706 screen, then you do not need to enter a date in the Alternate valuation date (Force) field on the Asset screen.
