Registering your business with Google Places is a free and effective way to boost your search engine optimization (SEO). It’s likely that Google has already indexed information about your business, but they give higher priority to listings that have been verified by the business owner. The process is simple and shouldn't’t take more than five minutes. Here is how to register your business with Google Places.

  1. Navigate to the website  www.google.com/local/add/businessCenter External link. (What's this?)

  5. If your firm name is listed, click Edit. Otherwise, click Add a new listing.
  6. Enter details about your business that you want to list. You can decide which details will appear in your Google Places page. You can add basic information like your address, phone number, work hours, and a link to your website. You can also add images and videos.

To ensure that all of the information you entered is accurate, Google will send a postcard to the address you listed or call the phone number you provided with a code that you’ll need to enter the next time you log in. We recommend that you select the phone option so you can verify your listing immediately.

If you move to a different location or this information changes at any time you will need to log back into this account to make the adjustments so that Google reflects the correct information about your firm.
