Journals screen

Alerts and notices

Use the Journals screen to set up or edit journals. You can use journals to record related types of transactions. For example, you can set up a sales journal, purchases journal, cash receipts journal, cash disbursements journal, and so forth.

Choose Setup > Journals.

The journals you set up in this screen are available for selection from the drop-down lists in the Actions > Enter Transactions screen.


  • You can add a journal on the fly by entering a unique description in the Journal field of the Actions > Enter Transactions screen.
  • You must have at least one journal at all times. You cannot rename or delete the General journal. If you attempt to delete a journal that contains transactions and you have set up more than one journal, the application will display a prompt giving you the option to transfer the transactions to another journal or to delete the journal and all associated transactions.
