Integration between Engagement CS and PPC's SMART Practice Aids allows you to bring advanced audit functionality to your licensed Practice Aids products. When PPC's SMART Practice Aids is installed, you can perform the following tasks and insert the completed audit documents into the current engagement.

  • Complete all of your planning documentation.
  • Identify and capture audit risks affecting your engagement.
  • Select an audit strategy in response to your risk assessment.
  • Use drag-and-drop functionality to easily customize your tasks.
  • Produce tailored Practice Aids for your engagement.
  1. With the desired engagement open in Engagement CS, click the SMART Practice Aids button on the Engagement CS toolbar or choose Tasks > PPC > SMART Practice Aids(TM). If the Smart Practice Aids button is missing, refer to K13432631.

  2. If the selected engagement has been associated with an existing engagement in SMART Practice Aids, the Open Engagement dialog displays that item in the available list pane.

  3. If the selected engagement has not been previously associated with an engagement in SMART Practice Aids, the following dialog is displayed.

  4. Build the appropriate planning forms and audit programs in SMART Practice Aids.
  5. On completion, generate the planning forms and audit programs by choosing "Create Practice Aids".
  6. The planning forms and audit programs will be saved to a path where the Engagement CS client is stored. Click OK in the Create Practice Aids dialog to create the planning forms and audit programs to the appropriate path.

  7. In the engagement within Engagement CS the planning forms and audit programs will be automatically inserted and listed into the {Not yet filed} folder in the engagement Tree View window.
  8. You can drag and drop unfiled workpapers to the appropriate engagement folder, or choose File > Process Unfiled Workpapers to move items to an appropriate engagement folder and/or replace existing workpapers. (Using the latter option makes it easier to replace existing documents in the engagement.)

Roll Forward of the Engagement

Once the engagement has been completed in both Engagement CS and SMART Practice Aids you will want to roll forward both engagements.

  1. With the engagement highlighted in Engagement CS, choose File > Roll Forward.
  2. Specify your Roll Forward Options and your Roll Forward - Workpaper Settings.

Note: refer to K67076322 for additional information on the Roll Forward in Engagement CS.

If you click Yes, the rollforward process begins SMART Practice Aids. SMART Practice Aids passes the Engagement CS engagement's Prior Period Indicator, Current Period Indicator and Current period document path from the Engagement CS to SMART Practice Aids.
