For licensed users of the Payroll CS Direct Deposit module: Use the Direct Deposit tab of the Setup > Employees window to set up employee information for direct deposit files. Each employee payroll check can be deposited in multiple accounts, as defined in this tab. The information located here tells the application where each employee's payroll check should be direct deposited and how the deposit(s) should be made.
Note: An employee's paychecks may be direct deposited to multiple accounts. The application calculates the deposit(s) in the order in which they appear in the grid. The application assigns the remaining balance of the direct deposit amount to the last account listed or to the first account listed without a corresponding percentage or amount. You can reorder the rows of the grid using drag and drop. (In either the Add or Edit mode, click the number button at the left of a row using the left mouse button. While holding the mouse button down, drag the row to its desired new position, and then release the mouse button.)
Fields & buttons
Displays the ID and name of the selected employee, plus the employee's SSN (social security number) or EIN (employee identification number).
Enables you to use a different direct deposit configuration setup for the employee. The Type field allows you to choose either the primary or alternate direct deposit configuration to enter or edit.
Note: If this information is not set up or does not have approved status when paychecks are processed, a live check will be produced.

- Bank ID. Enter the ID of the bank where the employee's paychecks should be direct deposited, or select the ID from the drop-down list. The application automatically uses the routing number entered for this bank in the Direct Deposit setup when creating electronic transactions.
- Account Number. Enter the number of the account where the employee's deposit should be made.
- Account Type. Choose Checking, Savings, or Credit Loan from the drop-down list.
- Amount or Percent. Enter either an amount or a percentage for the bank account. The application creates a transaction for either the indicated amount or a percentage of the direct deposit deduction on a check, up to the total amount of the direct deposit deduction.
The application processes these transactions in the order in which they appear in the grid. Note, however, that each calculation is based on the original amount and not on the balance remaining after the calculation of the previous row(s). The application assigns the remaining balance of the direct deposit amount to the last account listed or to the first account listed without a corresponding percentage or amount.
- Status. Choose one of the following options from the drop-down list: Approved; Suspend; Prenote/Zero Balance; or Waiting. (The application automatically updates this field from Prenote/Zero Balance to Waiting when you write a prenote file either by printing checks or by using the commands in the Direct Deposit Tasks menu. It updates this field from Waiting to Approved when you select Update Account Status from the Tasks menu in the Payroll CS Direct Deposit module. A Suspend status temporarily disables the calculation until you manually change it to a different status.)
