Linking Excel spreadsheets within GoFileRoom

You can create external reference links to GoFileRoom documents in formulas within Excel. You can also add these externally referenced documents to GoFileRoom, or, if they are already in GoFileRoom, search for them and establish links.

Adding spreadsheets with links to other spreadsheets in GoFileRoom

To add spreadsheets with links to other spreadsheets in GoFileRoom:

  1. Open or create a Microsoft Excel document with formulas that utilize values in other spreadsheets.
  2. Click the Add to GoFileRoom button in the toolbar. Log in to GoFileRoom if prompted.
  3. Fill in the required indexes and click the Index button. Note that the status of the current document in the top-right corner of the window changes from "Not Indexed" to "Indexed" and you now have the option to add the next referred document.
  4. To add the linked spreadsheets to GoFileRoom, fill in the required indexes and click the Index button. To skip a document, click the Skip button, and you will be prompted to index the next linked document.
  5. Click Done when all of the documents you wish to add to GoFileRoom have been indexed.

Locating and checking out linked GoFileRoom spreadsheets from Excel

To locate and check out linked GoFileRoom spreadsheets from Excel:

  1. In Excel, open (for editing) a spreadsheet stored in GoFileRoom that has external links.
  2. Click the Checkout Linked Files button in the Excel toolbar.
  3. Select the desired spreadsheet from the search results.
  4. Right-click and choose Edit Document.

Updating values in linked spreadsheets

Note: Updating values allows you to verify that you are seeing the most recent data when working with linked spreadsheets.

  1. In Excel, open (for editing) a spreadsheet stored in GoFileRoom that has external links.
  2. Click the Update Values button in the Excel toolbar.
  3. Click the desired source, and then click the Update Values button.
  4. Click Close.
