The Illinois Department of Revenue grants an automatic seven-month extension if there is no tentative tax due. Forms IL-1120-V and IL-1120-ST-V are solely used to accompany a payment and will not print if there is no amount due with the extension. Use the Balance due on extension (Force) field on Screen ILPmt in the Payments folder to force an amount due.

You can e-file the Illinois extension without a corresponding federal extension. If you are electronically filing the extension, you must make the payment via Electronic Funds Withdrawal. Use the Extension Information section on Screen ILELF to enter the Extension signature date and Requested payment date. When you e-file the extension, a copy of Form IL-1120-V or IL-1120-ST-V will print for your records; do not mail the form.

If you are not electronically filing the extension, print Form IL-1120-V or IL-1120-ST-V with an amount due via File > Print extensions and mail the form with an accompanying check or money order.
