The Time Clock import allows you to create check records in Payroll CS from formatted text files. The application uses the text file to automatically create unprinted checks from an external source.

Time Clock import files must be named xxxxx.TCI, where xxxxx is the desired file name. (For former users of BASS Payroll, the import file name may be RBASSDAT.xxx, where xxx is the BASS client ID.)

  1. Open the Tasks > Payroll Check Entry window.
  2. Choose Edit > Time Clock Import or choose Time Clock Import from the F3 or right-click context menu.
  3. In the Time Clock Import dialog, select the file you wish to import. (Note that you may use the Change File Location button if you need to specify a different location for the import file.)
  4. Click the Import button. The file is processed and the Time Clock Check Creation dialog displays a list of successfully imported checks.
  5. You can review the checks that were just created by the application in the Payroll Check Entry window by pressing the PAGE UP key on your keyboard or by choosing Check List from the right-click context menu. You can also print an Unprinted Check Listing from the File > Print Reports dialog.

Note: The Time Clock Import Errors dialog displays if the file contains departments, employee numbers, wage descriptions or other items that do not match those of the CSA client. You can choose to print this error log and to save or abort the import process

  6. When the import process is complete, review the checks in the Payroll Check Entry dialog by paging up, modifying checks as needed. You can also review the checks by printing the Unprinted Checks List. When you are satisfied with the checks, print them as you normally would.
