The Time Clock import allows you to create check records in Payroll CS from formatted text files. The application uses the text file to automatically create unprinted checks from an external source.

To import Time Clock data, first open the Tasks > Payroll Check Entry window and then choose Time Clock Import from the Edit menu or from the F3 or right-click context menu. In the Time Clock Import dialog, select the file you wish to import. If the import file is in the departmental format, mark the Departmental import format checkbox. Click the Import button.

Time Clock import files must be named xxxxx.TCI, where xxxxx is the desired file name.

  • If you are importing a SwipeClock file, you will need to manually change the file extension to TCI.
  • For former users of BASS Payroll, the import file name may be RBASSDAT.xxx, where xxx is the BASS client ID.

Special information

  • You can review the checks created by the import in the Payroll Check Entry window or by printing an Unprinted Check Listing from the File > Print Reports dialog.
  • For former users of BASS Payroll: The file structure used for the Time Clock import is identical to that used in BASS Payroll.
  • Time clock files can be imported from application output files from the following vendors:
    • Kronos, www.kronos.com, 800.225.1561
    • Points North,* www.points-north.com, 888.561.2072

    • SwipeClock, www.swipeclock.com, 888.223.3450
    • TimeRack, www.timerack.com, 951.284.1500 ext. 1

* Points North does not produce a time clock but instead prepares formatted files from existing time clocks to meet the specifications of the CSA application.
