The Event Monitor dialog enables you to quickly view, sort, filter, and print a listing of events that have occurred within certain areas of the program over a specified number of months. The WSW.SYS file retains a record the date and time of each event, and the Event Monitor enables you to view, sort, and print that information at any time.

To enable event tracking within CSA, mark the checkbox on the Event Tracking tab of the Setup > System Configuration > Administration dialog. When Event Tracking is enabled, you may also specify the number of months of event tracking history to retain (from 1 to 36 months, with 24 months as the default setting). The current size of the global WSW.SYS file is also displayed on Event Tracking tab of the Setup > System Configuration > Administration dialog.

To open the Event Monitor dialog, choose Utilities > Event Monitor.

Special information

The settings in the Event Tracking tab and the information displayed in the Utilities > Event Monitor dialog are global (not client-specific). Tracked events are logged into the global WSW.SYS file where your CSA program files are installed.

The Event Monitor dialog tracks events within following areas of the program:

  • Actions in the Payroll Check Entry window. For example, if this feature is activated, when payroll checks are recorded and saved within Write-Up CS or Payroll CS, the WSW.SYS file retains a record the date and time of that event, the client name and ID, the type of action, the user's staff ID and computer designation, the GL and PR period ending dates, and so forth, and the Event Monitor enables you to view, sort, and print that information at any time.
  • Actions from the File menu, such as adding a new client, backing up or restoring client data, system data, or software updates.
  • Actions in the Setup > System Configuration > Administration dialog.
  • Actions in the Help > Repair dialog.

Be sure use the File > Backup dialog to back up your system data on a regular basis.
