The CSA software can track details for certain unique client and global events that occur within the program as you process data for your clients.

The Event Tracking tab of the Administration dialog allows you to activate event tracking within the Utilities > Event Monitor dialog. When the Enable Event Tracking checkbox is marked on this tab, you may also specify the number of months of event tracking history to retain (from 1 to 36 months, with 24 months as the default setting). The current size of the global WSW.SYS file is also displayed on this tab, including any event tracking history.

Click the Event Tracking tab on the Setup > System Configuration > Administration dialog.

Special information

The settings in the Event Tracking tab and the information displayed in the Utilities > Event Monitor dialog are global (not client-specific). Tracked events are logged into the global WSW.SYS file where your CSA program files are installed.

The Event Monitor dialog enables you to quickly view, sort, filter, and print a listing of events that have occurred within following areas of the program:

  • Actions in the Payroll Check Entry window. For example, if this feature is activated, when payroll checks are recorded and saved within Write-Up CS or Payroll CS, the WSW.SYS file retains a record the date and time of that event, the client name and ID, the type of action, the user's staff ID and computer designation, the GL and PR period ending dates, and so forth, and the Event Monitor enables you to view, sort, and print that information at any time.
  • Actions from the File menu, such as adding a new client, backing up or restoring client data, system data, or software updates.
  • Actions in the Setup > System Configuration > Administration dialog.
  • Actions in the Help > Repair dialog.

Be sure to use the File > Backup dialog to back up your system data on a regular basis.
