In some cases, a Workpapers CS document with formulas may display amounts that do not match the amounts on the Actions > Enter Trial Balance screen. Use the information below to determine why this is happening and how to resolve it.

Note: The amounts on the Trial Balance grid are relative to the current posting period of the client, but the amounts from the formulas on the Workpapers CS documents are relative to the period ending date on the Engagement Binder.

If the numbers on the Actions > Enter Trial Balance screen are correct

Typically, the amounts in a Custom Excel document will display prior year numbers in the current year column in this scenario.

  1. Choose Setup > Engagement Binders, or right-click on the Engagement Binder on the Workpapers Dashboard and choose Properties.
  2. Verify that the Period ending date is the correct date, and matches the Current Posting Period of the client.

If the numbers on the Workpapers CS document are correct

Typically, the current posting period for the client in the main part of the application is in a different year than the document in the Engagement Binder.

  1. In the main part of Workpapers CS, look at the Current Posting Period in the lower left corner of your screen.
  2. Choose Actions > Change Posting Period and select the correct posting period.
