FileCabinet CS option is grayed out or missing when printing

Use this article to help troubleshoot when the FileCabinet CS option is grayed out or missing in Accounting CS, Fixed Assets CS, Planner CS, Practice CS, Toolbox CS, UltraTax CS, and Workpapers CS. 

After each step listed below, attempt to print to FileCabinet CS again.

  • In FileCabinet CS, go to Help, then About FileCabinet CS. Check to make sure FileCabinet is up-to-date.

    Note: To download the latest version of FileCabinet CS, sign in to https://cs.thomsonreuters.com/support/downloads/.

  • Go to Help, then About FileCabinet CS, make sure that your license is not expired. If the license is expired you will not be able to print to FileCabinet CS.
  • Make sure that the data locations in FileCabinet CS and the other CS Professional Suite application match. See Setting up and maintaining data locations for FileCabinet CS integration.  
  • Rerun the desktop setup for FileCabinet CS.
  • Clear the user's temporary directory.
    1. Close all applications.
    2. Go to the Start menu.
    3. In the Search programs and files input, type %temp%. Then hit the Enter key on your keyboard.
    4. Select all (CTRL + A on your keyboard) the items in the directory, then hit the Delete key on your keyboard. Select Yes to the Delete Multiple Items dialog box. Skip any items that are prompted.
  • Register the FileCabinet CS dll file.
    1. Go the the Start menu, then search for Run.
    2. Type regsvr32 "X:\WinCsi\Cabinet\Desktop\Setup.exe, where X is the drive letter where FileCabinet CS is installed.
    3. Select the OK button. 
    4. When notified that the registry was successful, select OK.
  • Delete the user preference file.
    1. Close all applications.
    2. Go to X:\WinCsi\FcabSys, where X is the drive letter where the program is installed.
    3. Delete the zfcumsc.xyz file, where xyz is your user log-in.
    4. If you are trying to print from UltraTax CS or Fixed Assets CS you will also have to delete another user preference file.
      • UltraTax CS: Go to X:\WinCSI\UTYYSys, where YY is the year of the program. Then delete the _yusumsc.xyz file, where y is the year of the program and xyz is you user log-in.
      • Fixed Assets CS: Go to X:\WinCSI\DeprSys then delete the DCONTROL.xyz file, where xyz is your user log-in. 
  • Download and install licenses via CS Connect for FileCabinet CS, and reboot the computer.
