The Home Page contains links to frequently-used functions such as adding or opening clients, links to product guides, information about the availability of software updates, electronic filing news, and more. The Home Page is automatically displayed when the program is first opened. You may view the Home Page at any time by clicking the Home Page button on the toolbar .

Change when the home page is displayed

By default, the Home Page is set to display when the application is first opened. For the Fixed Assets CS and UltraTax CS applications you also have the option to display the home page when no other screens are available. 

To enable this feature, choose Setup > User Preferences > select When no other screens are visible from the Display the Home Page drop-down.

Disable the Home Page

Disabling the home page for CS Professional Suite applications can be a useful troubleshooting step. Follow the instructions below to disable the home page.

Steps to disable for a single user

  1. Choose Setup > User Preferences > Home Page.
  2. Change the Display the Home Page drop-down to Never and click OK.
  3. Close and reopen UltraTax CS.

Steps to disable for all users (Globally)

  1. Close UltraTax CS.
  2. On your workstation browse to X:\WinCSI\UTYYSys. Where YY is the version of UltraTax CS and X is the drive or network location where UltraTax is installed. 
  3. Create a new folder or file named utYYhome.na.
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + N, to create a utYYhome.na folder. Name the new folder utYYhome.na where YY is equal to the last two digits of the year of UltraTax.
    • To create a utYYhome.na file complete the following:
      1. Right-click the utYYhome.con file, where YY is the version of UltraTax CS.
      2. Choose Rename and replace the .con in the file name with .na.
      3. Press Enter to save your changes.
      4. When you receive a message that the file might become unusable, click Yes to confirm the change.

      Note: If you do not see a utYYhome.con file, you may have file extensions hidden. To check, open Windows Explorer and choose View > Options > View tab. If marked, clear the Hide extensions for known file types checkbox.

  4. Open UltraTax CS and confirm that the home page does not load.
  1. Close FileCabinet CS.
  2. Browse to X:\WinCSI\FcabSys, where X is the drive or network location where FileCabinet CS is installed.
  3. Create a new folder or file called fcYYhome.na.
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + N, to create a fcYYhome.na folder. Name the new folder fcYYhome.na where YY is equal to the version of FileCabinet CS.
    • To create a fcYYhome.na file complete the following:
      1. Right-click the fcYYhome.con file, where YY is the version of FileCabinet CS.
      2. Choose Rename and replace the .con in the file name with.na.
      3. Press Enter to save your changes.
      4. When you receive a message that the file might become unusable, click Yes to confirm the change.

      Note: If you do not see a fcYYhome.con file file, you may have file extensions hidden. To check, open Windows Explorer and choose View > Options > View tab. If marked, clear the Hide extensions for known file types checkbox.

  4. Open FileCabinet CS and confirm that the home page does not load.

Steps to disable for a single user

  1. Choose Setup > User Preferences > Miscellaneous.
  2. Change the Display the Home Page drop-down to Never and click OK.
  3. Close and reopen Fixed Assets CS.

Steps to disable for all users (Globally)

  1. Close Fixed Assets CS.
  2. On your workstation browse to X:\WinCSI\DeprSys, where X is the drive or network location where Fixed Assets CS is installed.
  3. Create a new folder or file named faYYhome.na.
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + N, to create a faYYhome.na folder. Name the new folder faYYhome.na where YY is equal to is equal to the version of the year of Fixed Assets CS.
    • To create a faYYhome.na file complete the following:
      1. Right-click the faYYhome.con file, where YY is the version of Fixed Assets CS.
      2. Choose Rename and replace the .con in the file name with .na.
      3. Press Enter to save your changes.
      4. When you receive a message that the file might become unusable, click Yes to confirm the change.

      Note: If you do not see a faYYhome.con file, you may have file extensions hidden. To check, open Windows Explorer and choose View > Options > View tab. If marked, clear the Hide extensions for known file types checkbox.

  4. Open Fixed Assets CS and confirm that the home page does not load.

Internet Connection 

It is not necessary to have a persistent Internet connection to view the Home Page, but a persistent Internet connection will ensure that the Home Page can provide timely information through alert messages and notifications for available updates.

To indicate that you have a persistent Internet connection, perform the following steps.

  1. Access CS Connect .
  2. Click Communications Setup. Note that the Communications Setup dialog will open automatically if you have never used CS Connect.
  3. Mark the Internet connection is always online checkbox, and click OK.
