You can use the FileCabinet CS print driver to refile FileCabinet CS documents from within FileCabinet CS, creating static copies of your documents. You can also use this feature to create static copies of embedded documents before or after making changes to them.

To refile documents, follow these steps.

  1. In the Folders window, select the document you want to refile.
  2. Choose File > Print. The document you selected to refile appears in the right pane.
  3. Click the FileCabinet CS option in the Print where group box.
  4. Click one of the following options.
    • Combine printed items into one document: When you click this option, the default name for the re-filed document is in the format "Documents (Refile <#>)."
    • Print each document separately: When you click this option, the default name for each re-filed document is the current document name with "(Refile <#>)" appended to the end, creating a unique name for the re-filed document, which will not overwrite the original.
  5. Click the To Cabinet button. The FileCabinet CS Driver Documents dialog opens.
  6. Make any desired changes and click the To Cabinet button (or the Print button, if you clicked the Printer option in the Print dialog).

Notes

  • Re-filed copies of images become printed images that do not retain their native file formats. To make a copy of an image file to retain the original file format, use the Copy and Paste commands in the Edit menu.
  • Annotations on re-filed documents other than embedded objects become static and can no longer be edited. To exclude annotations from re-filed documents, clear the Include annotations checkbox in the Print dialog.
  • When a document is re-filed, the original document remains unchanged in its original drawer location.
  • Re-filed documents lose page names that appear in FileCabinet CS.
  • Re-filed embedded documents become static printed documents that cannot be edited. (The original embedded document remains unchanged.)
