Automatic drawer family creation in UltraTax CS

FileCabinet CS automatically creates drawer families when you store UltraTax CS documents in FileCabinet CS for Filing Status Optimization (FSO) clients, when the clients associated with a domestic partner return are printed to FileCabinet CS, 1120 clients that are set up as Domestic Partner Client Groups, Consolidated Client Groups, Form 8615 (Kiddie Tax) Client Groups, MI Unitary Business Groups, TX Affiliates, and MA Subsidiaries.

Note: This functionality is not available for versions of UltraTax CS prior to 03.1.0.


UltraTax CS automatically creates a drawer family for FSO clients when you do the following:

  1. Run the FSO utility on a joint 1040 client and save the clients that UltraTax CS creates for the separate taxpayer and spouse returns.
  2. While in UltraTax CS, print (as a batch or as separate clients) any clients to FileCabinet CS.

UltraTax CS automatically creates a drawer family for the clients after you print at least two of the clients to FileCabinet CS.

Note: FileCabinet CS defaults to using FSO Clients as the family name.

UltraTax CS automatically creates a drawer family for 1120 consolidated clients when you do the following:

  1. Create the consolidated client group in UltraTax/1120.
  2. Print the consolidated client to FileCabinet CS.
  3. Print the parent, eliminations, and subsidiary clients to FileCabinet CS.

Note: FileCabinet CS defaults to using Consolidated Clients as the family name.

UltraTax CS automatically creates a drawer family for 1040 domestic partner clients when you do the following:

  1. Create the domestic partner return in UltraTax/1040.
  2. Print the domestic partner return to FileCabinet CS.
  3. Print the returns for the taxpayer and spouse to FileCabinet CS.

Note: FileCabinet CS defaults to using Domestic Clients as the family name.
