Using logcsi files to troubleshoot error messages

Show expandable text

A Technical Support Representative may request that you create and send them logcsi file. This file can be used if normal troubleshooting doesn't resolve issues with the FileCabinet CS toolbar in Microsoft Excel, embedding Excel documents, or other errors.

Logcsi files

  • Outlook.logcsi
  • Winword.logcsi
  • Excel.logcsi

Use the following steps to gather the appropriate logcsi file.

  1. Create the logcsi file in the appropriate folder.
    • Office 2007: Create a text file in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 called outlook.logcsi, winword.logcsi or excel.logcsi. (Be sure that the extension is changed to logcsi and does not have .txt at the end.)
    • Office 2010: Create a text file in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14 called outlook.logcsi, winword.logcsi or excel.logcsi. (Be sure that the extension is changed to logcsi and does not have .txt at the end.)

Note: For 64-bit Operating Systems, these folders can be found in C:\Program Files (x86).

  2. If you are troubleshooting the toolbar add-in, verify that the add-in is enabled. (Re-enable the add-in, if that is part of the issue.)
  3. Duplicate the issue, and then send the logcsi file to the Technical Support Representative that is assisting you.
