Adding custom links in the Home Page

Show expandable text

You can add custom links to the Home Page for quick access to frequently used web pages or file paths. Custom links appear in Home Page with the associated website icon or application icon.

  1. Choose Setup > User Preferences and click the Misc tab.
  2. Click the Custom links button.
  3. Click the Add button and enter a description for the link in the Description field. For example, if you are adding a link to the IRS forms web page, you might enter IRS Forms here.

Note: FileCabinet CS will display this description in the Home Page as linked text.

  4. Do one of the following.
    • To add a link to a web page, click the Web URL option and enter a URL. For example, http://www.irs.gov.
    • To add a link to a file on your network or your computer, click the File option, click the Ellipsis Ellipse button, and navigate to a file. You can also enter the path to the file for which you will create a link.

Note: The Icon field shows the icon for the website or file that you enter in the Web URL or File fields. You can change this icon by clicking the Browse button, navigating to an image file, and selecting it.

Note: If you're running FileCabinet CS in the Virtual Office CS or SaaS environment, you can navigate to files on your local network.

  5. Click Enter, and then click OK twice.
