CS Connect Background Services

Alerts and notices

You can use CS Connect Background Services to keep FileCabinet CS updated and to transmit certain documents to NetClient CS. In addition, you can determine who has access to CS Connect Background Services.

Note: The options you set for CS Connect background services affect FileCabinet CS, UltraTax CS, and Fixed Assets CS.

By default, the Enable background services checkbox is marked to apply pending updates at 3 a.m. eastern time. However, you can apply updates at any time. To change the default settings, choose Setup > System Configuration, and then click the CS Connect + Misc tab.

  • Verify that all other users have closed FileCabinet CS, all other CS Professional Suite applications, and all Microsoft Office applications, and the computer you use to apply updates is logged in to the network.
  • To retrieve and update licenses, you must call or schedule an unattended call to our secure data centers.
  • When CS Connect Background Services is enabled, a CS Connect icon displays in the Windows taskbar notification area.

NetClient CS Documents

If you are licensed for NetFirm CS, you can enable automatic transmittal of documents to NetClient CS. CS Connect Background Services will scan for drawers with a status of Changed or Forced and will automatically transmit updated documents to NetClient CS.

Source Document Processing (OCR) Images

If you marked the Enable automatic transmission and retrieval of Source Document Processing (OCR) checkbox, CS Connect Background Services will transmit image groups that have been designated for source-document processing.

Access to CS Connect Background Services

By default, all computers on the network are allowed to run background services. To limit this option to only the computer you are using, choose Setup > System Configuration, click the CS Connect + Misc tab, and then select the Only this computer option.
