If you are acquiring images that will be assigned to multiple assets, perform the following steps.

  1. In the Asset List window, choose Setup > Image Library.
  2. Click the Acquire button.
  3. In the Acquire image from section, select the source through which you will acquire the images.

Note: If you are running Fixed Assets CS through Virtual Office CS or Software as a Service (SaaS), you must use a TWAIN-compliant scanner.

  4. The steps to finish acquiring the image vary depending on the source from which you are acquiring the image. Click the link for the appropriate source below. To acquire additional images, return to step 2 and repeat the procedure.  When finished acquiring images click the Done button to return to the Asset List window.

    1. With Copy from File highlighted, click Continue.
    2. In the Select Image dialog, navigate to the folder in which the image resides.

Note: If you are running Fixed Assets CS through Virtual Office CS or Software as a Service (SaaS), you can navigate to files on your local network.

    3. Highlight the images.
    4. Click the Select or Open button. (The name of the button varies depending on which version of Microsoft Windows you have installed.)
    5. In the Image Properties dialog, you can rename the image if desired. (By default, the Save image as field contains the image's file name.)

      Notes

      • If you click Cancel in this dialog, the image is not acquired.
      • If you selected multiple images, the Image Properties dialog opens for each image.
    6. Click OK.
    1. Verify that the TWAIN or WIA-compliant device is turned on.
    2. If the document needs to be scanned, place the item to be scanned on the scanner.
    3. In the Optimize group box, mark the Reduce image size on disk checkbox if you want to save disk space by saving the image at a smaller size.
      • For black and white documents, click the Optimize for black and white pages option.
      • For color images, click the Optimize for color pages option.
    4. Click Continue.
    5. The application for the TWAIN or WIA-compliant device opens. Follow the directions for the TWAIN or WIA-compliant application to scan the document or take the picture.

Once Fixed Assets CS has acquired the image, the Image Properties dialog opens.

    6. In the Image Properties dialog, you can rename the image if desired. (By default, the Save Image as field contains the image's file name.)
