Customizing an asset label to include a barcode

To customize an existing asset label or set up a new label to include a barcode, perform the following steps.

  1. Open the desired client.
  2. Choose Utilities > Asset Labels.
  3. Double-click each asset for which you want to print a label to move it to the Assets to print pane.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. In the Print Asset Labels dialog, choose the label layout that you want to edit or base a new label on from the drop-down list in the Label layout group box.
  6. Click the Edit button.
  7. In the Edit label layout dialog, click the Edit button to edit the existing layout permanently or click the Add button to add a new layout based on the application-defined layout chosen.
  8. If you are adding a new layout, enter a unique name in the Layout name field.
  9. In the Available Fields list, make sure that the checkbox for the field that you want to print as a barcode is marked.
  10. With the field name highlighted in the Available fields list, choose one of three barcodes we supply from the Print field as field.
  11. Click the Enter button to save the changes to the Defined label layouts list.
  12. Click Done to close the Edit Label Layout dialog.
  13. In the Print Asset Labels dialog, click the Print button to print the asset labels.

The edited application-defined label or the new label is now available for all clients.
