Recommended changes to Windows Registry for TLS 1.2

Show expandable text

GoFileRoom uses Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 for secure communications. For more information, read User Bulletin 8571.

You'll need to make changes to a workstation's Windows Registry if it has systems that interact with GoFileRoom without the Client Add-In, including workstations with only the Upload Document Service installed.

You may also need to make these changes to the Registry on workstations where the Client Add-In has been installed with non-administrator permissions.

We recommend that you make a backup of the Registry before making any changes to it and that any changes are made by a qualified technician.

Update the Registry

  1. Enter Run in the Windows Search bar.
  2. Enter regedit, then select OK.
  3. If prompted to allow this program to make changes, select Yes.
  4. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\v4.0.30319.
  5. Take the following steps if the SchUseStrongCrypto key is not present.
    1. Right-click anywhere on the right and select New then DWORD (32-bit) Value from the context menu.
    2. Enter SchUseStrongCrypto in place of New Value #1.
    3. Double-click the new SchUseStrongCrypto key and enter 1 in the Value data field.
  6. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\.NETFramework\v4.0.30319 and repeat step 5.
