Specifying how users will receive notification messages

By default, DT Firm Portal sends notification messages to DT Client Portal and DT Staff Portal users when certain events occur; for example, DT Firm Portal sends a notification message when the login for a portal has changed.

Note: You can view a list of items for which DT Firm Portal automatically adds notification messages to the Tasks widget.

DT Firm Portal administrators can determine the method by which users will receive each type of notification message.

Note: You cannot prevent DT Firm Portal from sending notification messages via email for events that involve basic account functions, such as login changes and password changes.

  1. In the Admin tab of the navigation pane, click the Templates link in the Utilities section.

    Note: If you don't see this link, you don't have access to this area.

  2. The templates are sorted by category in the Notification > Templates list. Click a category to view a list of notification messages.
  3. Click the title of a notification template to view the template on the right.
  4. DT Firm Portal selects your firm's default language in the Language field when you open this screen. The changes that you make in this screen apply only to the selected language. You can select a different language from the Language field.

    Notes

    • All field labels, button names, and so on will remain in the language that is selected for your entire portal. Only the text that you can edit changes to the language that you selected in the Language field.
    • We recommend that you complete all fields in the selected language before choosing a different language from the Language field.
  5. In the Delivery Method section, mark the checkbox for each delivery method by which you want users to receive notification messages that are sent by DT Firm Portal.
    Checkbox Details
    Email DT Firm Portal sends the notification via email to the email address that is in the Email Address field of the DT Client Portal Users screen or the DT Staff Portal Users screen.
    Direct Message DT Firm Portal adds the notification to the user's Messages menu and adds an alert to the Messages menu Message menu with alert.
    Create a task widget when message is delivered In addition to adding the notification to the Messages menu, DT Firm Portal adds the notification to the Tasks widget in the user's Home Dashboard. The notification will remain in the widget until the user clicks it.

    Note: This checkbox is available only when the Direct Message checkbox is marked.

  6. Click Enter.
  7. To specify how messages that are sent in a different language should be delivered, select that language from the Language field and repeat steps 5 - 6.
