Use the W-2 Information dialog to enter W-2 information for a taxpayer or spouse who earned wages from more than one employer or in more than one state.

To open this dialog, do one of the following:

  • Double-click a data-entry field in the Income > Wages tab.
  • Right-click one of the data-entry fields in the Income > Wages tab and choose Allocations from the shortcut menu.
  • Place the cursor in a data-entry field in the Income > Wages tab and choose Edit > Allocations.

Fields & buttons

This list contains all of the employers that have been created for either the taxpayer or spouse for the current plan year. To add a new employer, click the New button and enter the employer's name in the Employer name field. To delete an employer, highlight the employer in the list and click the Delete button.

Enter the name of the selected employer.

Enter the taxpayer's or spouse's wages from the selected employer.

Planner CS calculates this amount based on your entry in the Federal taxable wages field. Enter an amount in this field if you want to override the calculated amount.

Planner CS calculates this amount based on your entry in the Social Security wages field.

Note: The application does not allow an override entry in this field.

Enter the amount of the employee's federal withholding for the selected employer.

Note: When you enter federal tax withheld in an annualized plan, disregard the "1/1-5/31" and "1/1-8/31" time periods in the second and third column headings. Instead, enter federal tax withheld on a quarterly basis as follows:

  • In the first column, enter tax withheld from January through March.
  • In the second column, enter tax withheld from January through June.
  • In the third column, enter tax withheld from January through September.
  • In the fourth column, enter tax withheld from January through December.

Enter the amount the taxpayer or spouse received in the form of dependent care benefits from the selected employer.

Planner CS calculates this amount based on your entry in the Federal taxable wages field.

Enter an amount in the field if you want to override the calculated amount.

Enter the amount of the employee's resident state withholding for the selected employer.

  • From the drop-down list attached to the first field, select the nonresident state in which the wages were earned.
  • In the second field, enter the amount of the employee's wages from the selected employer that were earned within the nonresident state.

Note: This field is only available in the W-2 Information dialog. It is not displayed on the data entry screen.

Enter the amount of the employee's nonresident state withholding for the selected employer. Planner CS applies the withholding to the state designated in the NR State wages field.

From the drop-down list attached to first field, select one of the following:

  • Yonkers - City of Yonkers
  • NYC - New York City
  • CA SDI - California State Disability Insurance
  • IN County - Indiana County

The New York and Indiana state modules use the amount entered in the second field for purposes of the Yonkers, New York City, and Indiana County nonresident earnings tax, if applicable.

Enter the amount of the employee's local withholding for the selected employer. Planner CS applies the withholding to the state related to the locality designated in the Local wages field.

Mark the S Corporation wages checkbox to add the S Corporation as an employer.

Notes

  • These wages transfer to the S Corporation wages field on the Main > S Corp Comparison tab.
  • The employer’s and the employee’s share of Social Security and Medicare taxes transfer to the Payroll Taxes section of the S Corp Comparison tab.

The fields in this group box display the total taxable wages, the total federal withholding, and the total state withholding for all employers listed for the taxpayer or spouse.

Clicking this button opens the Wage Projection dialog, which allows you to project a taxpayer or spouse's annual wage amounts based on a year-to-date pay stub or single paycheck amount.

Note: If wage amounts have already been entered for the current employer, you will be prompted to create a new W-2 when clicking this button.
