With the Excel Import utility, you can quickly and efficiently import apportionment information from a Microsoft Excel workbook to the UltraTax/1065 Apportionment Information window.

You must begin with an Excel spreadsheet that was previously exported from UltraTax/1065. For details, see Exporting apportionment information to Excel.

  1. Save the Excel workbook before you import the information into UltraTax/1065 to ensure that UltraTax CS imports all changes.
  2. Open the UltraTax/1065 client for which you want to import apportionment data from Excel.
  3. Choose Utilities > 1065 Excel Import.
  4. In the Look in field, enter the path to the Excel file location.
  5. Enter the Excel file name in the File name field. The default file name is the same as the client ID.
  6. In the Information group box, click the Apportionment data option.
  7. Click the Import button.

Notes

  • To enter or modify the information in the Excel worksheet, follow the required guidelines.
  • If any errors occur during the import process, the Apportionment Import Error Messages dialog lists the errors encountered. Click the Open Excel button to open the Excel file, correct the errors, and then save the file. Click Done to close the dialog, and then re-import the file. Click the Print button in this dialog to print a list of the errors.
