Form 540/540NR electronic record will automatically include the following PDF attachments in the e-file:

• IRS Form 982 (as completed in the 1040-CA Non Calculating folder)
• The tax return for other state if claiming credit on Schedule S for taxes paid to that state. 

If you want to attach any additional PDF documents to the e-file, select Edit > Electronic Filing Attachments.

PDF Attachments - Reviewed by FTB

California FTB reviews certain documentation included as PDF attachment with Form 540/540NR electronically filed return, including the following:

• Supporting documentation - Dependent born and died in current year
• Supporting documentation - Form 3504 (Enrolled Tribal Member Certification)

California FTB reviews certain documentation included as PDF attachment with Form 568 electronically filed returns, including the following:

• Supporting documentation - Explanation of omission of LLC tax from Form 568

PDF Attachments - Not processed by FTB

California FTB advises that certain forms and documentation are required to be submitted to specific mailing addresses or submitted online via FTB web site in order to process them properly, therefore PDFs for the following forms and documents will likely not be processed by FTB if submitted as an attachment to electronically filed Form 540/540NR or Form 568:

• Form 3520 - PIT - Individual or Fiduciary Power of Attorney Declaration
• Form 3520 BE - Business Entity or Group Nonresident Power of Attorney Declaration
• Form 3520 RVK - Power of Attorney Declaration Revocation
• Form 3533 - Change of Address
• Form 3552 - Identity Theft Affidavit
• Form 3567 - Installment Agreement Request
• Form 705 - Request for Innocent Joint Filer Relief
• Form 743 - Online Account View Access Authorization

Submit these forms according to the form instructions.
