The New Jersey Department of Revenue does not provide a specific form or schedule to complete an amended return for a New Jersey nonresident. Therefore, when amending a New Jersey nonresident tax return, the application calculates the difference between the original amount due/refund and the newly computed amount due/refund. Depending on the return's data, the result is displayed on the New Jersey filing instructions as either an additional amount owed or a refund.

When you amend a nonresident return, Form 1040NR will be recalculated with the new information entered. The final balance due/refund from the amendment will not display on the return but the filing instructions will show the additional amount due/refund.
