Use the state tabs in the Shareholder Information window to enter state-specific information for shareholders. State tabs appear only if you have added states to the return.

To update a shareholder's state-specific information, click that shareholder in the Shareholder Information window, and then click the appropriate state tab.

North Dakota information group box

If the shareholder is a nonresident individual estate or trust filer, enter a code from the following table or select the code from the drop-down list to indicate the type of nonresident individual or trust filing to be made by the shareholder or to indicate the type of estate. If the shareholder is a nonresident individual or trust, UltraTax CS calculates withholding for the shareholder by default.

Withholding (default)

This is the default filing for a nonresident shareholder when a code is not selected from the drop-down list. Select this option to indicate the shareholder is subject to withholding on Form 60, Schedule KS, column 7. UltraTax CS prints Form PWA for nonresident shareholders subject to withholding and enters an adjustment on lines 3 or 4 of Form PWA.

Composite filer

Select this option to indicate the corporation is filing a composite return on behalf of the nonresident shareholder. UltraTax CS calculates the North Dakota composite income tax on Form 60, Schedule KS, column 8 for participating nonresident shareholders.

Decedent's estate

Select this option to indicate the shareholder is a decedent's estate. UltraTax CS uses this information to determine the entity type of the nonresident shareholder.

Bankruptcy estate

Select this option to indicate the shareholder is a bankruptcy estate. UltraTax CS uses this information to determine the entity type of the nonresident shareholder.

Trust exempt from withholding

Select this option to indicate the shareholder is exempt from withholding. UltraTax CS prints Form PWE for nonresident shareholder trusts electing the exemption from withholding and completes Form PWE, part 3.

Trust revoking withholding exemption election

Select this option to indicate the shareholder is revoking the exemption from withholding. UltraTax CS prints Form PWE for nonresident shareholder trusts electing the exemption from withholding and completes Form PWE, part 4.

Grantor trust exempt from withholding

Select this option to indicate the shareholder exempt from withholding. UltraTax CS prints Form PWE for nonresident shareholder grantor trusts electing the exemption from withholding and completes Form PWE, part 3.

Grantor trust revoking withholding exemption election

Select this option to indicate the shareholder is revoking the exemption from withholding. UltraTax CS prints Form PWE for nonresident shareholder grantor trusts electing the exemption from withholding and completes Form PWE, part 4.

The shareholder's resident state is displayed in this field.

Enter the state in which the shareholder was a part-year resident. Use this field if you are processing multiple-state returns for this client. If applicable, the state uses this information to determine part-year residency status. Enter the state postal code directly or select the code from the drop-down list.

Enter the dates for which the shareholder is a part-year resident. Use these fields if you are processing multiple-state returns for this client. If applicable, the state uses this information to determine part-year residency status.

UltraTax CS provides this statement dialog for supplemental information specific to each shareholder. Use this statement dialog for items that are not pro-rata. If you have pro-rata items that need to be reported to each shareholder, use Section A in Screen NDKSep. UltraTax CS prints the information you enter in this statement dialog in the Schedule K-1 statements.

Withholding information group box

Enter the estimated North Dakota individual income tax that was paid or is to be paid by the nonresident shareholder. UltraTax CS uses this information to complete Form PWA, Passthrough Entity Withholding Adjustment.

Enter the additional North Dakota individual income tax withheld from the nonresident shareholder's wage income. UltraTax CS uses this information to complete Form PWA, Passthrough Entity Withholding Adjustment.

Enter the nonresident shareholder's amount to withhold for the current year if different from the calculated amount. Enter zero, if applicable. UltraTax CS uses this information to calculate the shareholder's estimated total North Dakota income on Form PWA, Passthrough Entity Withholding Adjustment.

Enter the nonresident shareholder trust's name if electing the withholding exemption or revoking the withholding exemption. UltraTax CS uses this information to complete Form PWE, parts 1 and 5.

Enter the nonresident shareholder trust's name if electing the withholding exemption or revoking the withholding exemption. UltraTax CS uses this information to complete Form PWE, parts 1 and 5.

Enter the nonresident shareholder trust's name if electing the withholding exemption or revoking the withholding exemption. UltraTax CS uses this information to complete Form PWE, parts 1 and 5.

Enter the nonresident shareholder trust's name if electing the withholding exemption or revoking the withholding exemption. UltraTax CS uses this information to complete Form PWE, part 5.

Enter the nonresident shareholder grantor trust's settler or owner name if electing the withholding exemption or revoking the withholding exemption. UltraTax CS uses this information to complete Form PWE, part 1.

Enter the nonresident shareholder grantor trust's social security number of FEIN if electing the withholding exemption or revoking the withholding exemption. UltraTax CS uses this information to complete Form PWE, part 1.
