Licenses for Payroll CS, Trial Balance CS, and Write-Up CS permanently expired on March 1, 2017.

Some processes documented in the Help & How-To Center are no longer applicable, due to the discontinuation of Creative Solutions Accounting.

Use CS Connect to download and apply any available software updates for the CSA programs for which your firm is licensed. (If you use Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8, you may need to open and run CSA as an administrator. To do so, right-click the CSA icon and choose Run as administrator.)

  1. Choose File > CS Connect.
  2. Click the Call now option.
  3. Mark the Retrieve available updates checkbox.
  4. Click the Call Now button. CS Connect logs in to our network of secure data centers and downloads all available product updates.

    Note: CS Connect tells you approximately how long the download will take, and you can choose whether or not to download the updates at that time. To cancel the call without downloading the updates, click the Cancel button.

  5. Click the Apply previously downloaded updates/licenses option.
  6. Click the Apply Now button to apply the updates.

  • CSA closes automatically before applying updates. All networked users of CSA programs, including the user applying the updates, must exit CSA for the update process to be completed successfully.
  • If CS Connect encounters a problem while applying updates, the updates are not applied and the program remains at the most recent successful update version. In this case, all subsequent updates for that program are temporarily skipped, and updating proceeds for the next program.
  • CS Connect will prompt you to apply updates at the end of any CS Connect call when unapplied updates exist, even if no updates were downloaded during that particular call.
  • If CS Connect receives a busy signal or no answer when attempting to connect to servers, it will make a total of nine repeated attempts to redial over a one-hour period.
  • You can sign up to receive email alerts about CS Professional Suite product updates. For more information, visit our website at and click the Email Subscriptions link. (Note that you must create a web account to sign up for email subscriptions.)
  • You can clear the Retrieve available updates checkbox in the General tab of the Group Privileges dialog (accessed from the Groups tab of the Setup > System Configuration > Administration dialog) so that staff members of the same group cannot retrieve updates until they are made available by an IT administrator.

Remember that while the Connection Status dialog is displayed, your computer is still connected to our servers. CS Connect automatically logs off from those servers and disconnects the call after it has finished downloading the updates, or you can click the Cancel Call button at any time to manually disconnect the call. If you accidentally disconnect the call while downloading updates, CS Connect will not allow you to apply updates to your computer. You will need to connect to our servers later to download the remaining updates.
