Troubleshooting missing documents edited on a workstation

Show expandable text

Scenario

While editing a GoFileRoom document, it is possible that your work may be interrupted due to a system crash, power loss, or loss of internet connectivity. The document in GoFileRoom will remain at a status of checked out, and recent changes that you have made have not been saved back into GoFileRoom yet.

We recommend as a best practice that you save often to safeguard against unexpected interruptions.

Solutions

Save your work often

Follow these steps to save your recent changes in GoFileRoom.

Microsoft Word or Excel
  1. In the Microsoft Word or Excel, click the GoFileRoom ribbon.
  2. Click the Save to GoFileRoom button.
  3. Choose the Save to GoFileRoom and keep working option, and then click OK.

In the event of lost internet connectivity, click Save Locally and keep working until your network connection is restored. When the connection is restored, select the GoFileRoom ribbon, and then Display Local Files. You will see a list of documents that are saved locally that you can select, open and then choose Save to GoFileRoom.

Adobe Acrobat PDF
  1. Click the Save to GoFileRoom button.
  2. Choose the Save to GoFileRoom and keep working option, and then click OK.

In the event of lost internet connectivity, choose File > Save As in Adobe Acrobat to save a local copy of the document, and keep working until your network connection is restored. When the connection is restored, you can repeat step 2.

Locate the document and make it available

If a system failure has occurred, you can make the checked-out documents available.
