If you process payables for your client in Accounting CS, it is important that you assign GL accounts to the AP accounts listed below, regardless of the accounting method selected (accrual basis or cash basis) in the Setup > Clients > Accounts Payable tab, to ensure that the journal entries are posted to the correct accounts. Otherwise, the application will assign items with blank accounts to the undistributed account, which may cause balances to be off.

You can assign the accounts payable GL accounts in the screens below.

GL account Accounting CS screen
Accounts Payable (client) Setup > Clients > Accounts Payable tab
Discount Setup > Clients > Accounts Payable tab
Accounts payable (vendor) Setup > Vendors > Accounts Payable tab

Notes

  • The application does not post historical (beginning balance) items to the General ledger. However, these items are available for AP reports.
  • The option to specify the client's accounting method (Accrual basis vs. Cash basis) is in the Accounting Method section of the Setup > Clients > Accounts Payable tab.
