For payroll compliance (annually licensed)

When you register as a reporting agent with the IRS, you must submit a list of clients for whom you will act as a reporting agent and also file Form 8655 (www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8655.pdf) for each client. You can use the Actions > Enroll > Reporting Agent Authorization screen to easily create a reporting agent list and print a Form 8655 for each client.

Previewing and printing the reporting agent list and Form 8655

  1. Choose Actions > Enroll > Reporting Agent Authorization.
  2. In the Reporting Agent Authorization screen, use the filter fields as needed to limit the clients that display in the Client enrollment grid.
  3. Choose the Add Clients option. The Client enrollment grid will display only the client records that meet your filter specifications and that do not already have the Reporting agent (Form 8655 filed) checkbox marked in the Electronic Filing section of the Payroll tax forms additional information dialog.
  4. In the Client enrollment grid, mark the checkboxes next to the client records you want to add to the Reporting Agent List report.

    Notes

    • If you do not want to print the signature date on the Form 8655 that will print for each client, mark the Suppress signature date checkbox above the grid.
    • If you want to print only the Reporting Agent List report, and do not want to print Form 8655 for the clients at this time, mark the Suppress form 8655 checkbox.
  5. If applicable, select the a contact in the Taxpayer Contact column. The drop-down list includes all contacts for which the Payroll form signer checkbox is marked in the Additional Contacts dialog when accessed from the Setup > Clients screen.
  6. Mark any other checkboxes as appropriate for each client. The checkboxes are described in detail in the Enroll > Reporting Agent Authorization screen topic.
  7. If you want to preview the report prior to, or instead of, printing it, click the Preview Selected button.
  8. To print the report and Forms 8655 as specified, click the Print Selected button. At this time, the application will mark the Reporting agent (Form 8655 filed) checkbox in the Electronic Filing section of the Payroll tax forms additional information dialog for the selected clients.
