Use the Trial Balance CS View Maintenance dialog to customize the layout of the Trial Balance window.
From the Tasks > Trial Balance window, choose View Maintenance from the Edit menu or from the F3 or right-click context menu.
Note: If you set up and save any customized views, the program opens the Select Trial Balance View dialog before opening the Trial Balance window. In the Select Trial Balance View dialog, select the desired customized view to open the Trial Balance window using the settings specified for that view.
Fields & buttons
Displays the customized views already saved for the Trial Balance window.
Displays the description for the selected customized view. If you are setting up a new customized view, enter a short description for the view.
Use the drop-down list to select the period for which you want to view current information in the Trial Balance window.
Note: The years available in the drop-down list depend on the number of years of balances you selected to save in the Trial Balance or General Ledger tab of the File > Client Properties dialog.
Mark this checkbox to include adjusted journal entries in the Trial Balance grid. The program highlights all journal entries in light gray.
Mark this checkbox to divide the Trial Balance window into a split screen view, with the Adjusted Journal Entry grid below the Trial Balance grid. When you add, edit, or delete any journal entry type in the Adjusting Journal Entry grid, the program instantly updates the account information in the Trial Balance grid.
Mark this checkbox to display information for combining accounts only.
Note: When you mark this checkbox:
- The Journal entry detail checkbox is unavailable (grayed).
- The balance columns in the Trial Balance grid are read-only.
To list only the accounts applicable to a specific location, select the desired location. By default, the program displays accounts for all locations.
Note: This field is available only if the client's Chart of Accounts mask includes one or more location digits.

Displays the optional columns available to include in the Trial Balance grid and the number available for selection.
To select a column to display in the grid, highlight it in the Columns Available pane and click the Select button.
To remove a column from the grid, highlight it in the Columns Selected pane and click the Remove button.
Displays the optional columns selected to include in the Trial Balance grid and the number selected.
To select a column to display in the grid, highlight it in the Columns Available pane and click the Select button.
To remove a column from the grid, highlight it in the Columns Selected pane and click the Remove button.
To change the order of the columns in the Trial Balance grid, highlight the column you want to move and then click the Move Up button (to move the column to the left one position) or the Move Down button (to move the column to the right one position) until the column is in the desired position.
