Use this tab to designate the location to which FileCabinet CS saves documents as well as the data locations of other integrated CS Professional Suite applications. The default FileCabinet CS location is WINCSI\FCABDATA; it exists on the same drive as the FileCabinet CS application. In the File Locations tab, you can specify a different data location for FileCabinet CS.

You can also use this tab to specify the location in which FileCabinet CS should look for archived data. See Archiving documents for more information on the FileCabinet CS archiving feature.

To open this tab, choose Setup > User Preferences, and click the File Locations tab.

Fields & buttons

Integrated applications

Select the integrated application for which you would like to modify or view the data location.

Note: If you're running FileCabinet CS in the Virtual Office CS or SaaS environment, you can navigate to files on your local network.

Click this option to show the location of your FileCabinet CS application and data files, if applicable.

Notes

  • You cannot modify the location of the FileCabinet CS application files through this tab.
  • To modify a FileCabinet CS data path, highlight FileCabinet CS Client Data and click the Modify Location button. Choose a location from the Data location field in the FileCabinet CS Data Location dialog (assuming you set up multiple data paths within FileCabinet CS). For details, see Data Locations overview.

Click this option to show the location of your current or prior year UltraTax CS data files, if applicable.

Notes

  • You cannot modify the location of the UltraTax CS application files through this tab.
  • To point to a different client data location, click the UltraTax CS Client Data option, click the Modify Location button, navigate to the correct drive and path, and click OK.

Click this option to show the location of your Fixed Assets CS data files, if applicable.

Notes

  • You cannot modify the location of the Fixed Assets CS application files through this tab.
  • To point to a different data location, click the Fixed Assets CS Client Data option, click the Modify Location button, navigate to the correct drive and path, and click OK.

Click this option to show the location of your Practice CS data files, if applicable.

Notes

  • You cannot modify the location of the Practice CS application files through this tab.
  • To point to a different data location, click the Practice CS Client Data option, click the Modify Location button, navigate to the correct drive and path, and click OK.

Additional items

Click this button to change the data location for integrated CS Professional Suite applications, as well as the location where FileCabinet CS stores its documents. Choose a location from the Data location field in the FileCabinet CS Data Location dialog.

Note for FileCabinet CS: This button is not available if the application location (rather than the data location) is selected in the list.

This list includes FileCabinet CS application files. It also includes the data locations for FileCabinet CS and all other CS Professional Suite integrated applications.

Click this button to open the Data Location Stats dialog in which you can view detailed information about data locations, such as the current number of data locations, their total size, and the average size of each drawer.

Note: This button is available only for FileCabinet CS application files.
